I’m excited to see a new shop opening in McKinney. Not much in the way of good espresso/fresh coffee this far north. I’ll be curious to see which roaster they go with, and whether they buy a real machine or sign up for mediocrity with a superauto and weak baristas. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for at least a Linea, and maybe PrimaCafe or Cuvee coffee…
There is a new shop in Fairview (a couple miles south). Java Ice, I think? They have a nice setup, but must have missed the whole “learning to use your equipment” phase of things. They sell ice cream as well, so i guess that is more their business model. Tragic though, I was really looking forward to being able to get decent espresso without having to drive to deep Dallas.
I’ve never had any experience with Saxby’s, but if you are looking for a new coffee shop with excellent espresso, incredible service and a drive-thru window in McKinney, go to Three Lumps Coffee House. They are at HWYs 75 and 380 and located behind the Olive Garden (they’re also next to Two Season’s Vietnamese restaurant).
I absolutely love this place and really want them to stick around. They apparently had major trouble with a franchise called Cuppy’s. From what I can tell, they really got shafted by those people.
I say before you give your money to yet another chain, you should try Three Lumps. I think you’ll love it.

Michelle, I can appreciate your enthusiasm for Three Lumps, but your comment reads like Spam.
A comment in response to a different shop is not the place.
If you’d like a feature on the name change or something, fill out the contact form, and I’ll see what we can do.
My wife and I are in the area looking at new homes as we are considering moving from south Nashville, Tennessee. I tell you this because we just had a Saxby’s open in our neighborhood back home and one of the first things we did was check to see if there were any Saxby’s in Dallas. WE LOVE IT! The Frolattes are the best! We actually have a Starbucks opening next and not many people care. Head to head, other than on strength of name recognition, I have no idea how Starbucks will compete with them. Saxby’s is awesome, you’ll love it!
