Coffee N Cream: McKinney, TX
I received an email from John Ennen, who owns a shop in McKinney called Coffee N Cream.
Coffee N Cream sent one of their baristas to compete in the 2007 SCAA South Central Regional Barista Competition, which might be something worth mentioning. Usually shops don’t sponsor such things unless they care a bit about quality.
They serve coffee and ice cream as well. (in case you couldn’t tell by the logo)
The combination seems to be a growing concept. Slowly, but surely, I see more popping up here and there.
John has this to say,
We are an upscale coffee shop, with 2 locations in Collin County…one in McKinney, in historic Downtown McKinney, and the other in Allen. We are opening a third shop in Allen this fall, and have plans for two more in Dallas in ’09.
We feature some of the finest TX roasted coffee that can be found. We serve it with exacting standards and engaged baristas. Our menu of food items is unparalleled in the industry, with food sales more than twice the national average as a percentage of sales.
We cater to those who wish to “get away”, not “drive thru”. Those who want a place to come to, “N”-joy, relax and “N”-dulge themselves.
Come visit us sometime soon. Thanks!!
It is not known which roaster they source their coffee from. Has anyone been there, or tried it out?

[...] received an email today from the folks at Coffee N Cream to let me know about the grand opening of their second location. (I didn’t know they had one [...]
My wife and I frequent their new location in Allen. We love their beverages and they make their own pastries, not your run of the mill coffeehouse pastries. They are wonderful. The location is very clean, the staff are super friendly and its the best place to sit and enjoy a latte and pastry with someone. Don’t miss this place, you wil not be disappointed.
Thank you for your review, Corey!
I just visited the McKinney downtown location this afternoon. The one woman working was pleasant, but after I received my drink I had to question her barista training. I ordered an iced white mocha from the menu. When I tried to drink it, the sryup was never mixed in with the coffee, so I had a straw full of white syrup. I should have asked her to remake it, but instead tried to mix it in…my mistake since the ice was already in the drink. Don’t know if I’ll try this one again.
Thanks for the honest review, Teresa. How was the quality of the drink aside from the lack of mixing? How was the espresso? I have not had a chance to try it myself yet.
Teresa, pls come back and give us a chance to make your beverage the way it should be made! We may have been training that day…never an excuse, but hey, it’s the best I can think of right now!
Truly, we are artisans when it comes to our espresso drinks, and always trying to improve. Our coffee provider, Cuvee, is one of the finest roasters around, and we take their lead in product quality. All our staff will soon be trained by Cuvee too, just to be sure we’re keeping our skills top notch and customer friendly!
Stop in and ask for Teresa, Miranda or John at our Downtown McKinney location…or better yet, stop by our new Allen location, and we’ll make it PERFECT for you this time. And it’s on us!
Thanks for your business. John Ennen – Owner Coffee N Cream
I have been to both locations and agree they have offer amazing high quality products. Unfortunately, the new location in Allen in not as customer friendly as we have come to expect and love from the Mckinney shop.
We’ll still go to the new location because it is close to home, just not as much as we’d had planned due to the rudeness of employees.
I visited the McKinney location today for the first time. I ordered for myself and two others, the ooey gooey chocolate chip coconut bar, a red velvet cupcake, and a walnut chocolate chip cookie. All three were not worth what we paid for them. Ooey gooey usually means soft and chewy not cold and hard. The cookie was hard as well and not as moist as I had anticipated with few chocolate chips. And last was the red velvet cupcake and boy, it looked good but that’s all! I was sadly disappointed when I tasted that it was dry and very bland. I will more than likely not return for the desserts!
That is unfortunate. You didn’t mention a thing about the coffee, which leads me to question whether people tend to ignore the positive and focus only on the negative aspects of their experiences.
Not that it matters if this is the case, since this has clearly affected your view in a negative manner. Here’s hoping it was a fluke.
I’ve only been to the Frisco location and it is superb…the coffee is very smooth and honestly the best cup I’ve ever had(except my own).
I’ve been there several times and the staff have always been friendly. The once or twice that I’ve gone there and they were not on their game ~ I’ve just thought it was a bad day…or an off day..we all have them.
Excellent coffee & snacks.
Thanks for sharing your review, Sharon!
