San Antonio Coffee Roasters Now Kosher Certified

May 19, 2009 · Filed Under Publicity, Roasters, San Antonio, Texas Roasters · 3 Comments

I got this tip from Facebook (via)

sacoffeeroaster_000San Antonio Coffee Roasters, also known as What’s Brewing, a company that produces one hundred percent Specialty Gourmet Coffee has gone kosher. The oldest individual coffee roaster in San Antonio, they have a full line of coffees from various countries as well as blends that they have created for over 25 years.  More…

Is Kosher the next big certification in coffee?  It’s been Fair Trade and Organic and Rainforest Alliance, and Bird Friendly, and on and on for a long while now, but a few people are starting to see through the marketing front that seems to have become the dominant aim these days.

Is there such a thing as non-Kosher roasted coffee?  What all is required to make coffee “Kosher”?  Is this certification significant, or is it another label intended to move more product?  I don’t have the answer to that, but if the goal was publicity, I’d say that it has worked already.

It also turns out that San Antonio Coffee Roasters is not already in our list of Roasters.  They have now been added.

Coffee Maker by Tom Metcalfe: Artful Brewing

I’m not saying this is the ideal way to make a cup of coffee, but you can’t deny how cool it is.

It roasts.

It grinds. It brews.

Three operations. Three tools.

A 5 minute video showing the process. From green bean, to cup of coffee. All from one table-top design set.

Monkey Butt Coffee Quotes List: Georgetown, TX

May 6, 2009 · Filed Under Humor, Just for fun · 1 Comment

A spin-off company from Bar None Coffee, this site sells shirts, bags, cups, pretty much anything relating to coffee (or not) except anything you can actually consume.

They’ve compiled a list of coffee quotes, which I thought was pretty ineresting.  Monkey Butt Coffee Quotes

Some examples:

A mathematician is a device for turning coffee into theorems.

~ Paul Erdos
Ah! How sweet coffee tastes! Lovelier than a thousand kisses, sweeter far than muscatel wine!

~ Johann Sebastian Bach
Coffee Cantata
Coffee is our national misfortune.

~ Brazilian coffee grower, 1934

The Pearl Cup Launches New Website: Dallas

May 4, 2009 · Filed Under DFW, Publicity, Retailers, Websites · Comment

I saw through a Twitter feed that The Pearl Cup has finally launched their finished website.  They have menu images linked, and a coupon for $1 off of a Pearl Latte (their signature latte.. “secret recipe”) with the purchase of any baked good that you can print for use.

I tried to visit The Pearl Cup about a mont ago, but they had just closed by the time we arrived.  (nudge)
